A Special Anniversary

Today was a special day for us. One year ago today we saw our Charlotte’s face for the first time! We had received “the call” the day before, and knew there was a baby girl waiting for us. We were given her name, what province she was from and her birthday – Feng Shi Ci, JiangXi province, born February 6, 2006. We also knew that we had been transformed into “JX7” (7th JiangXi family), but we still hadn’t seen our Charlotte’s face. It is hard to describe the tumult of emotions when you open a packet of materials and there are three pictures of your little girl (see top left for 2 of them and below for the 3rd). At the time, I looked at the pictures and wondered what she was thinking, what was going through her mind? What did her expressions mean? Well, we can look at all of the pictures now and know what she was thinking and doing!

However the matching process is done, by some miracle we were brought together with the perfect baby for us, born on the other side of the world.

Today we spent a fairly quiet day together. We started the day with breakfast in the dining room. Last year Chris and I ate breakfast in the dining room so we could see the FedEx truck through the window when it arrived and could make sure it didn’t mistakenly go to the neighbor’s house (which is common). This year there were three of us! We then went to a picnic for adoptive families, sponsored by our adoption agency. Charlotte liked watching the older kids and wanted to tag along with them.

On Halloween, our little Angel was a little pumpkin. We went to two Halloween parties in the days leading up to Halloween and then went out trick or treating with friends Ann Marie and Savannah. It was pretty late for Charlotte, so we didn’t know how long she would last, but she had a ball. She loved watching the older kids run from door to door and just laughed and laughed. She wasn’t too interested in chocolate, although she seemed to like the one peppermint patty she ate.

Hi All,
I can't believe how big Charlotte looks. She really looks like a toddler. I love her pumpkin costume. I wonder if she got to eat any of her candy??? I know this was a very exciting anniversary. Happy anniversary!! Love to you all.
